Weston Memorial JPS June Fair

The annual Weston Memorial Fun Fair was held on Thursday, June 2, from 6–8 pm.

The theme for this year was “Go Wild” and by the looks of things, this community event did just that (In the eyes of 7 year old Leif Evenson, “this was the best night of my life”).  The weather was perfect, the bbq was sold out and the baking was yummy.  Everyone that wanted one got a turn in the bouncy castle.  A great many people opened their wallets for the raffle and a great silent auction.  All proceeds went to benefit the school literacy programs and other extracurricular activities.  Go Stars!!!

Great News from Weston Village Residents’ Association!

The following is from David McBride, chair of the Weston Village Resident’s Association.  It is truly great news.

“Hello everyone,

Hope all are having a good and safe summer.

Please find attached a letter dated August 19th from the Minister for Training of Colleges and Universities in regards to George Brown College.  In his letter Minister Malloy confirms that George Brown College “has submitted its capital project template, and that the new campus in Weston has been included”.  This is good news for the Weston Village as it demonstrates George Brown College commitment to locate a campus in the area.  The letter goes on to state that we will probably not hear anything further until next year.

I believe its important to share this news with the residents reaffirming the groups resolve in achieving positive change in Weston.  It’s important to keep our momentum as we move into the fall.

Please feel free to share this information with all.

Thank you,

David McBride
